Three Generations of Photography
It all began with Giuseppe Roan, who received his training in military photography. Born in 1929, he became the Official Photographer for the Alpini Corps in Vipiteno – Merano in 1948.
He worked in photography shops with his uncle in Malo and later in Schio throughout the 1950s.
Recalled to Bassano del Grappa as the Official Photographer of the Iulia Regiment at the Montegrappa Barracks of the Alpini Corps, he was also engaged as a reporter at all national events of the Corps.
After settling in Villaverla, he founded the first photography studio and shop, “Foto Roan,” in 1964. His family continued to run the business during his frequent relocations due to his work with the Alpini.
For 20 years, after the Alpini barracks in Bassano moved to Teramo, Giuseppe continued to follow the training section for recruits at the Aurelio Grue barracks, commuting between Veneto and Abruzzo.
He expanded the business and, in 1974, founded the Caldogno branch with his son Ruggero, which is still operational today.
Ruggero Roan was born in 1956 and has been involved in the family business from a young age.
In the early 1970s, he moved to Milan, where he trained as a photographer under Armando Testa, Rocco Mancino, and Oliviero Toscani. He returned to Villaverla, where he expanded the local shop, moving it to a larger store along the main road, while Giuseppe focused on the Caldogno branch.
In 1975, Ruggero was appointed the Official Photographer of the Vicenza Diocese for Pope Paul VI during that year’s Jubilee, continuing to manage the stores and pursue his photography career.
In 1990, Ruggero opened RR Photography Studio in Thiene, where he specialized in industrial and fashion photography, working for clients such as Diesel, Gas, Ares Line, Altec, Italsteel, Artifer, Bussandri, Studio Immagine, Studio Nicolussi Anzolon, and many more.
He opened a new shop in Thiene in 2005 and another in Zugliano in 2017.
Ruggero’s passion for cinema led him to collaborate as Director of Photography with Vicenza-based director Dennis Dellai on the films *Terre Rosse* and *Oscar*, as well as in short films and television commercials.

A partire da Giuseppe Roan di formazione fotografica militare. Classe 1929 diventa nel 1948 Fotografo Ufficiale degli Alpini di Vipiteno – Merano.
Lavora insieme allo Zio Fotografo nei negozi di Malo e successivamente di Schio per tutti gli anni ’50.
Richiamato a Bassano del Grappa come Fotografo Ufficiale Reparto Iulia nella Caserma Montegrappa del corpo degli Alpini è impegnato come reporter anche in tutte le manifestazioni nazionali del Corpo.
Stabilitosi a Villaverla fonda il primo Studio Fotografico e negozio “Foto Roan” nel 1964 che viene portato avanti anche dalla Famiglia durante continui trasferimenti a seguito degli Alpini.
Per 20 anni, dopo il trasferimento della caserma Alpini di Bassano a Teramo, Giuseppe continua a seguire la sezione addestramento reclute della caserma Aurelio Grue, facendo la spola tra Veneto e Abruzzo.
Ingrandisce l’attività e fonda nel 1974 con il Figlio Ruggero la sede di Caldogno tutt’ora aperta.
Ruggero Roan collaboratore nell’azienda di Famiglia fin da giovane età si trasferisce a Milano nei primi anni ’70 dove si forma come Fotografo presso Armando Testa, Rocco Mancino e Oliviero Toscani.
Torna a Villaverla dove ingrandisce la sede cittadina spostandola in un più ampio negozio sulla statale mentre Giuseppe si dedica a quella di Caldogno.
Nel 1975 Ruggero viene nominato Fotografo Ufficiale del Vescovato di Vicenza per Paolo VI nel Giubileo di quell’anno e porta avanti i negozi e la professione di Fotografo.
Nel 1990 Ruggero apre lo Studio Fotografico RR a Thiene dove si dedica alla Fotografia Industriale e di Moda lavorando per Diesel, Gas, Ares Line, Altec, Italsteel, Artifer, Bussandri, Studio Immagine, Studio Nicolussi Anzolon e molti altri.
Apre un nuovo negozio a Thiene nel 2005 e uno a Zugliano nel 2017.
La passione per il Cinema, porta Ruggero a collaborare come Direttore della Fotografia con il Regista Vicentino Dennis Dellai nei film Terre Rosse e Oscar oltre che in cortometraggi e spot televisivi.
