William Caparbi is a renowned journalist. He is the only witness of a brutal murder, committed during the annual journalism awards ceremony . After being threatened and silenced, he tries to maintain a neutral position, working on the current election campaign. However, he becomes involved in the search for the killer by Beatrice, who is on a moral crusade against the ethical decay of the mega city-state of Milan. In a plan for the redemption of the city, William will have to take a stand.

“Planned Indifference“ is an international noir movie in English. It’s a psychological drama in a sci-if setting, with a story structure revisiting the circles of hell from Dante’s Inferno.

The photography will be an essential part of the movie. It will be characterized by a classical noir movie’s look with an addition of neon color typical of the sci-fi genre.
Reflections of lights on wet city streets at night, strong color contrasts and a captivating dark atmosphere will be the frame for protagonists’ faces and gazes which will come out in the light for brief moments of truth, from the shady environments, before returning to be part of the fog.
The composition of the frame will take into account the futuristic metropolitan landscape in contrast with the poor and lonely people who live there. An original representation of bright and dark sides of our time.

Milan is the ideal location for “Planned Indifference”, thanks to its newly built neighborhoods and recently built skyscrapers. With simple scenographic additions, the city is able to give an unique dystopian and a sci-fi atmosphere. In the film Planned Indifference, Milan has become the technological capital of Italy and it has been the leader of a great economical and structural expansion beyond its suburbs.

The film Planned Indifference is inspired by the Inferno, that is the first of the three canticles of Dante Alighieri ‘s Divine Comedy , corresponding to the first of the Three Kingdoms of the Underworld where moral misery reigns on humanity desperation. Fallen humanity is visited by Dante on his otherworldly pilgrimage, journey destined to bring him to Salvation. The world of the damned, divided according to a precise moral logic deriving from Aristotle ‘s Nicomachean Ethics, is the result of the sum and synthesis of the society contemporary to him. Planned Indifference is a modern hell where all the contemporary sins are depicted in futuristic places, a psychological path through the problems of our society, pieces of the journey for protagonist redemption.
